The Congregational Consultant Program provides expanded Leadership Development Services to congregations within the District.
WHAT SERVICES DOES THIS PROGRAM PROVIDE?
Mission Development, Vision Development and Strategic Planning
A clear and meaningful mission statement, a shared, dynamic vision for the future, and well-developed plans for moving toward that vision are vital to a congregation’s health.
Leadership Development
Are your congregation’s leaders selected, trained and supported to be committed, effective leaders? Philosophies and processes for a heightened level of lay leadership are available.
Retreat Facilitation
Retreats create bonds of trust, good communication skills, deepening commitments, clear, achievable goals, and relationship covenants. Church Boards, Search Committees and other leadership groups are strengthened by such work.
In addition to this team of consultants, the District can offer:
Financial Consultations
Guidance is available on issues of congregational accounting, organization of financial duties, budget presentation, management of endowment funds, the financial aspects of canvass, capital campaigns, planned giving and insurance, and other financial matters.
WHO ARE THE CONSULTANTS?
Our consultants have been selected by the Church Leadership Department from both lay people and ministers of our District congregations. They have a deep commitment to healthy congregational life and to strengthening Unitarian Universalism.
Each consultant brings a particular set of skills and interests from their work and volunteer experiences. They have participated in an Inter-District Training program and have made a commitment to continued training in the years ahead.
HOW MUCH DO THESE SERVICES COST?
Costs for this program are shared by the District and the congregation as follows:
Consultants are paid an honorarium of $125.00 for a visit of up to three hours. $30.00 per hour is paid for each additional hour. A congregation which is Fair Share to both the UUA and the District is charged $75.00 for the first three hours and $20.00 for each additional hour; the District subsidizes the remaining balance.
A congregation which is Fair Share to either the UUA or the District, but not both, is charged $100.00 for the first three hours and $25.00 for each additional hour.
A congregation which is not Fair Share to either the UUA or the District is charged 125.00 for the first three hours and $30.00 for each additional hour.
The District pays mileage costs for the consultants. All other expenses are the responsibility of the congregation.
