The District Board has seventeen members who guide the affairs of the District. To do so, the Board:
· sets policy;
· establishes and supports our mission and purpose;
· employs and evaluates field staff and office staff;
· serves as manager and fiscal agent for our resources;
· develops and implements our Long Range Plan;
· provides programs and services to congregations.
The District Board has an Executive Committee of five officers, who are elected for two-year terms at the Annual Meeting in April. The current members of the Executive Committee are:
The Board also has seven department directors, the presidents (or designees) of four District organizations, and the District UUA Trustee. The Board meets quarterly. The first meeting, usually an all-day retreat in June, is for orienting new members and planning for the year ahead.
Among the District Board's tasks in 2002-2003 were:
- development of a new Long Range Plan and time-lines
- goal-setting with our new Acting District Executives
- calling Revs. Olav and Jeanne Nieuwejaar as Acting DEs
- a new structure for evaluation of District personnel
- finalizing of an office policy and procedures manual
- beginning the search for a Program Consultant in R.E.
- consideration of a revision of the District By-Laws
The Board will continue to focus on developing a District infrastructure that maximizes the use of our resources and provides services for congregations. In an era when limits to our time and income force us to justify "business as usual" and to consider alternatives, the Board will try to make the NH/VT District a model of effectiveness in service delivery and a leader in innovation. |
