This Committee plans conferences each year with the purpose of promoting fellowship and sharing among the member congregations of the District. The Conference Planning Committee is dedicated to programming that affirms the principles of the UUA, supports the needs of the District, educates our member congregations, and ministers to our shared spiritual lives.
The Conference Planning Committee plans and presents two District-wide conferences each year for members of District societies, one in the fall and one in the spring. The spring conference includes the Annual Meeting.
Conferences are hosted by District societies, which handle the social hour and meals, plan and conduct the ingathering and worship (if they wish to do so), assign rooms for workshops, and provide on-site set up. Conference Planning selects the location and coordinates with the host society; develops the theme; invites the speakers; prepares flyers and registration materials for distribution to District societies as well as appropriate publicity; creates and reviews evaluations of the conference; and produces conferences within its budget.
The Conference Planning Committee is always ready to advise societies about hosting a conference. A host society information sheet is available from the Committee.
