The NH/VT District, like the other districts in the UUA, elects one trustee to the UUA Board of Trustees for a four-year term, renewable once. The Board of Trustees is the UUA's governing body. It establishes UUA policy between annual General Assemblies, sets the UUA budget and oversees the UUA administration. The Board meets quarterly in January, April, June (in conjunction with General Assembly) and October.
The District Trustee spends approximately twenty-five days annually at Board and Committee meetings. In addition, time is required for correspondence, conference calls, meeting preparation and District events Recent issues facing the Board have included implementing our anti-racist, anti-oppression, multicultural agenda, financial oversight of our Beacon Press, elevating service to congregations as the focus of GA, improving the UUA's public witness, oversight of capital campaigns and revising the process of fellowship for ministry.
The District Trustee is an active member of our NH/VT District Board of Directors, and reports regularly to the District through a column in our District publication "Progress" and at the District Annual Meeting. The Trustee is available to Unitarian Universalists in the District, clergy and lay, who may wish to learn more about Board proposals or actions, or who wish to communicate concerns or suggestions. Details on Board work, including minutes of meetings, are available at uua.org/TRUS.
